Marie-Madeleine Guimard (born December 27, 1743, in Paris, died May 4, 1816) was a very famous French ballerina. She was a star on the stage in Paris for 25 years. She performed at the important Paris Opera during the time of King Louis XVI.
Her Lasting Impact
Marie-Madeleine Guimard was so important that many artworks were made of her. You can see her portrait at the famous Louvre Museum in Paris. Other drawings of her are kept at the Musée des Beaux-Arts et d'archéologie de Besançon. There is also a sculpture, called a bust, made by Gaetano Merchi in 1779. This bust is displayed at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. These artworks help us remember her talent and fame.
