Marie Petiet was born on July 20, 1854, in a town called Limoux in France. Her father, Léopold Petiet, was also a painter. This meant Marie grew up around art.

Her Art Training

From 1877 to 1883, Marie studied painting with a famous artist named Jean-Jacques Henner. He was a well-known French painter of his time. Learning from him helped Marie develop her own artistic style.

Her Exhibitions

Marie showed her artwork in important art shows. From 1877 to 1883, she exhibited at the Société des Artistes Français. This was a big group for French artists. She also showed her paintings at the famous Paris Salon. The Salon was the official art exhibition of the French Academy of Fine Arts. Getting your work shown there was a huge honor for any artist.

Her Family Life

In 1886, Marie married another painter named Étienne Dujardin-Beaumetz. After they got married, she started to sign her paintings as Marie Dujardin-Beaumetz.
