Mario Talavera Andrade (born December 13, 1885 – died March 27, 1960) was a talented Mexican musician. He was known as a tenor singer, a songwriter who wrote many popular tunes, and a conductor who led musical groups.

Early Life and Music
Mario Talavera was born and grew up in Xalapa, Mexico. His parents were Francisco and Sebastiana Talavera. From a very young age, Mario loved music deeply. He especially enjoyed opera and art songs, which are songs for a solo singer and piano.
Mario also showed a talent for writing music early on. He composed his first piece when he was just nine years old! As a teenager, he moved with his family to Córdoba, Veracruz, where he finished his basic schooling.
Becoming a Musician
Later, Talavera moved to Mexico City. There, he joined an opera company. This helped him improve his singing skills. He achieved his dream of performing opera for large audiences. He sang in famous operas like La bohème by Giacomo Puccini.
Even though he loved opera, Mario Talavera became most famous for writing popular music. His songs were enjoyed by many people.
Popular Songs and Tours
In the 1920s, Talavera was part of several groups that played traditional Mexican music. He also toured with the Orquesta Típica Presidencial, which was a special orchestra. He organized and led many different musical groups during this time.

Helping Other Artists
In 1945, Mario Talavera became a founding member of the SACM. This stands for Sociedad de Autores y Compositores de México, which means the Society of Authors and Composers of Mexico. He helped start this important organization along with other famous Mexican songwriters. Some of these included Alberto Domínguez, Alfonso Esparza Oteo, Manuel Esperón, Agustín Lara, and Consuelo Velázquez. The SACM helps protect the rights of songwriters and composers in Mexico.
Later Life
Mario Talavera passed away in 1960 in Mexico City. He was 74 years old.
