Marionfyfea carnleyi is a special type of land planarian, which is a kind of flatworm. This fascinating creature lives on the Subantarctic Islands of New Zealand. These islands are located far south, near the Antarctic region.

What Does Marionfyfea carnleyi Look Like?

This land flatworm is quite small, usually measuring about 1 to 2 cm long. That's roughly the size of your fingernail!

Its back, called the dorsum, is a creamy color. It has two wide, dark brown stripes running along its sides. The underside of its body, known as the venter, is a plain cream color.

Eyes and Mouth

Marionfyfea carnleyi has many eyes. They are arranged in a single line all around the edge of its body. You'll find more eyes packed together at its front end.

Like other flatworms, it has a special feeding tube called a pharynx. This pharynx is long and shaped like a tube, helping the flatworm to eat.
