Marián Labuda (born 28 October 1944 – died 5 January 2018) was a famous Slovak actor. He was known for his amazing performances on both stage and in many films. He became one of the most respected actors in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

Marián Labuda: A Slovak Acting Star
Marián Labuda was born in a place called Hontianske Nemce. He loved acting from a young age. In 1964, he finished his studies at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. This is a special school where people learn to become actors, musicians, and artists.
Starting His Acting Journey
After school, Marián Labuda joined the Slovak National Theatre (SND) in Bratislava. This is one of the most important theatres in Slovakia. In 1967, he moved to another theatre called Divadlo na Korze in the same city.
However, this theatre closed in 1971. After that, he joined Nová scéna, which was another theatre in Bratislava. He worked hard and gained a lot of experience.
A Career on Stage
In 1990, Marián Labuda returned to the Slovak National Theatre. During his long career, he played more than one hundred different characters on stage. He was very talented and could play many kinds of roles.
One of his famous stage roles was playing Jozef Tiso in a play called Tiso in 2005. For this role, he even won a special award called the Dosky Award. He also performed in plays like The Workroom and Waiting for Godot.
Starring in Films
Marián Labuda was not just a stage actor. He also appeared regularly in many films. These films were made in both Slovakia and the Czech Republic. He became a well-known face on the big screen.
Some of his most famous films include My Sweet Little Village (1985) and I Served the King of England (2006). In 1995, he won the Czech Lion award for best supporting actor for his role in the film The Garden.
He also showed his singing talent. He recorded an album called Silvester 68 with other famous people in Slovakia. He even wrote and sang a song on the album called "Pichni".
His Legacy
Marián Labuda passed away in Bratislava on 5 January 2018. He was 73 years old. He left behind a wonderful legacy of performances that continue to entertain and inspire people. He is remembered as one of Slovakia's greatest actors.
