Mark Funderburk's Baseball Journey
Starting in Baseball
Mark was chosen by the Minnesota Twins in the 16th round of the 1976 amateur draft. This means the Twins picked him to join their team from a group of young players. He started his professional career that same year. His first team was the Elizabethton Twins, a Rookie League team. He played his last professional season in 1987 with the Double-A Orlando Twins.
Playing Around the World
Besides playing in the United States, Mark also played baseball in other countries. He played for the Navegantes del Magallanes team in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP). On November 16, 1985, he made history in that league. He became the first player to hit two home runs in the same inning against the Leones del Caracas team.
Mark also played for the Rimini Baseball Club in the Italian Baseball League. This shows he had a wide experience playing baseball in different parts of the world.
