Mark Margolis (born November 26, 1939 – died August 3, 2023) was an American actor. He was famous for playing Hector Salamanca in the TV shows Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. He was even nominated for an Emmy Award for his role in Breaking Bad in 2012.
Mark Margolis worked a lot with director Darren Aronofsky. He was in almost all of Aronofsky's movies, including his very first one, Pi (1998). People also knew him as Alberto "The Shadow" in the movie Scarface and Antonio Nappa in the TV series Oz. He started acting when he was a teenager.

Early Life and Training
Mark Margolis was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His family was Jewish.
He went to Temple University for a short time. Then he moved to New York City to study acting. When he was 19, he learned from famous acting teachers like Stella Adler, Lee Strasberg, and Barbara Loden.
Acting Career
Mark Margolis was known for his supporting roles. These included movies like Scarface (1983) and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994). He also appeared in many films by director Darren Aronofsky. Some of these were Pi (1998), Requiem for a Dream (2000), The Fountain (2006), The Wrestler (2008), Black Swan (2010), and Noah (2014).
Television Roles
In 1990, Margolis played Dr. Nel Apgar in an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation. The next year, he was Helmut Dieter in the soap opera Santa Barbara. He also had regular roles on many other TV shows. These included The Equalizer, Quantum Leap, Oz, Law & Order, and Breaking Bad.
In 2015, he played Felix Faust in the Constantine episode "Quid Pro Quo". For his role in Breaking Bad, Margolis was nominated for an Emmy Award. He later played the same character in the show's spin-off series, Better Call Saul.
Stage Acting
Margolis was also a stage actor. In 2014, he appeared in a play called The Intelligent Homosexual's Guide to Capitalism and Socialism with a Key to the Scriptures. He played the character Gus in this play at the Berkeley Repertory Theater.
Personal Life
Mark Margolis married Jacqueline Margolis (née Petcove) on June 3, 1962. They had one son, Morgan H. Margolis, who is also an actor. Mark and Jacqueline also had two grandchildren.
