Mark Riley (born September 22, 1951) is an American journalist and commentator. He is well-known for hosting radio shows and appearing on TV. He used to host the morning talk show on WWRL 1600 AM. He also hosted a four-hour evening show called "The Air Americans" on Air America Radio, which was a network for talk radio.
At Air America, he also co-hosted a morning show called "Morning Sedition" with comedian Marc Maron. Before that, Riley worked at WLIB 1190AM in New York City. There, he was a journalist, program director, and on-air personality. He also co-hosted a morning show with Richard Bey at WWRL 1600AM.

Mark Riley's Career in Media
Mark Riley's first chance in radio was hosting a public affairs show called Urban Notebook. This show became very popular in the New York area. In 1986, Riley moved to a prime time morning slot. He broadcast live from the famous Apollo Theater in Harlem. Since then, Riley has worked in many different roles. These include being a writer, editor, and program director.
Working at WLIB Radio
From 1992 to 1996, Riley was the program director at New York's WLIB (1190 AM). He noticed that WLIB had a diverse audience. He worked to balance the station's programs for both African American and Caribbean listeners. Riley also helped the station teach listeners more about politics. He made sure WLIB covered all Democratic and Republican conventions since 1990. He also covered important events like the Democratic Inaugurals in Haiti.
Time at Air America Radio
In March 2004, Air America Radio started broadcasting from New York. WLIB was its main station. Mark Riley was one of the few staff members who stayed from WLIB. He co-hosted the morning show Morning Sedition. In December 2005, he started hosting The Mark Riley Show on Air America. This was a two-hour morning news program. The show ended in May 2007. This was so Riley and his team could get ready to launch The Air Americans. After that show was canceled, Riley and Richard Bey became co-hosts for the morning show at WWRL.
Later Radio and TV Work
On October 3, 2009, Riley started a new weekly radio show. It was called Working New York and aired on Saturdays on WWRL. Besides hosting radio shows, Mark Riley is also a TV political analyst. He often appears on "The Road to City Hall" on New York 1 News.
Riley has also been a commentator on many other TV channels. These include BET, CNN, and Fox News Channel. He has also worked internationally. He was a frequent guest on BBC Radio. He also produced documentaries for BBC2 in London.
Mark Riley and Music
Mark Riley also helped start "For The Record" in 1978. This group was a follow-up to "The New York Record Pool." Through this, he became very well-known for his love of Club Music. He is often connected with famous names in Club/Dance Music history. These include The Loft, The Garage, David Mancuso, Larry Levan, Frankie Knuckles, David Morales, and Joey Llanos.

Mark Riley studied English at New York University. He also graduated from The Gunnery School in Connecticut.
