MarketFair (also called MarketFair Mall) is a fun place to shop in West Windsor, New Jersey. Even though it's in West Windsor, its mailing address is Princeton. You can find it right along U.S. Route 1, a busy road between New York City and Philadelphia. About 83,000 cars drive by it every single day!
The mall has several main stores, called "anchor stores." These include AMC Theatres (where you can watch movies), Eastern Mountain Sports (for outdoor gear), Jos. A. Bank (clothing), Pottery Barn (home goods), LensCrafters (eyewear), and Barnes & Noble (books).
History of MarketFair Mall
MarketFair Mall first opened its doors in 1987. It was built by a company called JMB/Federated Realty. Today, Madison Marquette helps manage the mall.
When it first opened, the mall was called Princeton MarketFair. It was designed to be a place for fashion. Over the years, the mall has been updated and improved. For example, in 1996, about $12 million was spent to make it better. This included $2 million just to make the food court look new and modern.
These changes helped the mall a lot. By 2001, the amount of money spent by shoppers had gone up by 50%. This means more people were visiting and buying things!
Stores and Restaurants
MarketFair Mall is home to about 47 different shops and places to eat. A big part of the mall is dedicated to stores that sell things for your home. You can find special shops like Villeroy & Boch, Platypus, Williams Sonoma, and Pottery Barn.
If you're hungry, there are many restaurants to choose from. Some popular spots include Big Fish Seafood Bistro, P.F. Chang's, Bobby's Burger Palace, and T.G.I. Friday’s.
In recent years, new stores and restaurants have joined the mall. A new Banana Republic store opened, and a West Elm store was built. The Barnes & Noble bookstore also got a fresh new look. In 2013, more places like Seasons 52, Bahama Breeze, Qdoba, and a Corner Bakery opened up.
Don't forget the movies! The mall also has a ten-screen AMC Theatres where you can catch the latest films. And if you love outdoor activities, Eastern Mountain Sports has all the gear you need. Many different kinds of people enjoy visiting MarketFair Mall.
