Market Place is a group of fancy supermarkets found in different parts of Asia. These stores sell high-quality food and products. You might know them by different names depending on where you are.
For example, in Hong Kong, it's called Market Place. In Singapore, it's known as Cold Storage Fresh. In the Philippines, it's The Marketplace. These supermarkets are all part of a bigger company called DFI Retail Group.
There's also a special version in mainland China called BHG Market Place. This is a partnership with another company, Beijing Hualian Group. In the past, there were also Jasons Market Place stores in Taiwan. However, these were sold to Carrefour a few years ago.
In Malaysia, the supermarkets are called Mercató. These stores used to be part of DFI Retail Group. But in 2023, a company called Macrovalue Sdn Bhd bought the Malaysian food stores.
DFI Retail Group also runs other similar supermarkets. These include 3hreeSixty and Oliver's The Delicatessen in Hong Kong. They also own other well-known supermarkets across Asia. Some of these are Wellcome, Cold Storage, Hero, and Giant.

History of Market Place
How the Supermarket Chain Started
The story of Jasons Market Place began in Singapore in 1975. This was the first place where the supermarket chain opened its doors.
Later, in 2003, Jasons Market Place expanded to Taiwan. Then, in 2007, it arrived in Hong Kong. The first store in Hong Kong opened in an area called Jardine's Lookout. It was known as "Market Place by Jasons" at that time.
Changes and New Names
In 2012, a new store called Jasons Food Hall started operating in Malaysia. This store opened in the Bangsar Shopping Centre. It replaced an older Cold Storage supermarket there.
More recently, in 2020, the Jasons Market Place stores in Taiwan were sold. They were bought by a large retail company called Carrefour. After this sale, these stores got a new name. From 2022, they became known as Mia C'bon.
Products You Can Find
Special Brands at Market Place
Market Place supermarkets offer many different products. They also sell items from DFI's own special brands. These are called "private labels."
Two of these private labels are Meadows and Yu Pin King. When you see these brands, you know they are unique to DFI's stores.
