Marko M. Feingold (born May 28, 1913 – died September 19, 2019) was an amazing Austrian man. He survived the Holocaust, a terrible time in history. He lived to be over 100 years old! Marko was also the leader of the Jewish community in Salzburg, Austria. He helped take care of Salzburg's main synagogue, which is a Jewish house of worship.

Marko Feingold was held in several very difficult places during the Holocaust. These were called concentration camps. He was imprisoned in Auschwitz, Neuengamme, Dachau, and Buchenwald. He was the oldest living Austrian Holocaust survivor at the time of his passing.

Early Life

Marko Feingold was born in a place called Besztercebánya/Neusohl. This area was part of Austria-Hungary back then. Today, it is known as Banská Bystrica in Slovakia.

He spent his childhood and grew up in a part of Vienna, Austria, called Leopoldstadt.

Surviving the Holocaust

During World War II, many Jewish people faced great danger. Marko Feingold was one of them. He was taken to several concentration camps. These were places where people were held against their will. Life in these camps was extremely hard.

Marko Feingold showed incredible strength and courage. He managed to survive his time in these camps. His survival is a powerful story of hope.

After the War

After the war ended, Marko Feingold returned to Austria. He settled in the city of Salzburg. He became a very important person in the local Jewish community.

He served as the president of the Jewish community in Salzburg. He also looked after the city's main synagogue. He worked hard to rebuild and support the Jewish community there.

A Long and Meaningful Life

Marko Feingold lived for a very long time. He passed away at the age of 106. He was known as a centenarian, which means someone who lives to be 100 years or older.
