Markus White (born November 25, 1987) is a former American football player. He played as a defensive end and outside linebacker. Markus was chosen by the Washington Redskins in the 2011 NFL draft. He also played college football at Florida State University. Before that, he was named the national player of the year at Butler Community College.

Markus White: A Football Journey
Growing Up and High School Football
Markus White grew up in Lake Worth, Florida. He went to John I. Leonard High School. There, he played football with his teammate Kenrick Ellis.
After high school, Markus was seen as a promising player. He received offers from several colleges. He first planned to go to Rutgers University. However, he needed to take a different path to college. So, he decided to attend Butler Community College instead.
College Football Success
Shining at Butler Community College

At Butler Community College, Markus became a top defensive player. He set a school record with 24.5 sacks in one season. A sack is when a defensive player tackles the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage. He also forced six fumbles, which means he knocked the ball out of an opponent's hands.
Markus had 97 tackles, with 39 of them behind the line of scrimmage. For his amazing performance, he was named the NJCAA national player of the year. The NJCAA is for junior colleges. His team went undefeated with a 12-0 record. They even shared the national title that year.
Playing for Florida State
After his great year at Butler, many top colleges wanted Markus. He chose to play for Florida State. He started his career there as a backup player. He learned a lot from players like Everette Brown. By 2009, Markus became a starter for the Seminoles.
Professional Football Career
NFL Teams: Redskins and Buccaneers
Markus White was drafted by the Washington Redskins in 2011. He was chosen in the seventh round of the 2011 NFL draft. The Redskins changed his position from defensive end to outside linebacker. He played in two games during his first season. He mostly played on special teams.
In 2012, Markus had a rib injury during practice. He was later released by the Redskins. He then signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice squad. A practice squad is a group of players who train with the team. They can be called up to the main roster if needed.
Markus went back and forth between the Redskins and Buccaneers. He was signed to the active roster a few times. He also spent time on the practice squad for both teams. He was released by the Buccaneers in August 2013.
Canadian Football League
In May 2014, Markus White signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. This team plays in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played for them for two seasons. He re-signed with the team in February 2016. However, he was released by the Roughriders in June 2016. This marked the end of his professional football career.
