Marquis Dendy (born November 17, 1992) is an American track and field athlete. He is best known for his amazing skills in the long jump and triple jump. In 2015, he became the National Champion in the long jump. His winning jump that year was the longest in the world for over five years!
Marquis grew up in Middletown, Delaware. Sadly, an injury kept him from competing in the Rio Olympics.

College Career at the University of Florida
Marquis Dendy was a star athlete at the University of Florida. He won many championships during his time there. In 2015, he won both the long jump and triple jump titles at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. He had also won these events in 2014. He achieved the same double win at the 2015 NCAA Indoor Championships, even setting a new record in the triple jump. His first NCAA title was in 2013 for the indoor long jump.

High School Achievements
Before college, Marquis Dendy competed for Middletown High School in Middletown, Delaware. He set state records in both the long jump and triple jump. His long jump record was 25 feet 3.5 inches, and his triple jump record was 52 feet 7 inches.
After high school, he competed for the USA in the 2012 NACAC Under-23 Championships in Athletics. He won a gold medal in the long jump there. He had also competed internationally at age 17 in the 2010 World Junior Championships in Athletics, finishing 8th in the triple jump.
About Marquis Dendy's Family
Marquis Dendy comes from a family of athletes. His father was a sprinter in high school, and his mother, Dionne, was a college sprinter. His aunt, Terri Dendy, won a medal in a sprint relay at the 1993 World Championships in Athletics. In 2014, Marquis shared the award for Delaware's Outstanding Athlete from the Delaware Sportswriters and Broadcasters Association.
