Martha McLean – Anza Narrows is a large public park in Riverside, California. It covers about 40 acres (16 hectares) along the Santa Ana River. The City of Riverside's Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department manages this park. It's a special place because of its natural beauty and important history.

A Park with History

This park is named after Martha McLean. She was an activist who worked hard to protect the Santa Ana River. In the 1960s, the United States Army Corps of Engineers wanted to change the river's natural flow. Martha McLean and her friend Ruth Anderson helped save the river from these plans.

The park is also known for its connection to a famous explorer. In 1774 and again in 1776, a group led by Juan Bautista de Anza crossed the Santa Ana River here. This was the first time Europeans traveled through the Riverside area. A special marker in the park shows where this historic crossing happened. This spot is part of the Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail. This trail stretches across Southern California, marking the path of the original expedition.
