Martin E. Sullivan (February 9, 1944 – February 25, 2014) was an important person who led museums. He was the Director of the National Portrait Gallery in the United States. This gallery is part of the famous Smithsonian Institution. He worked there from 2008 to 2012.

Martin Sullivan was born in Troy, New York. He helped the National Portrait Gallery show more than just presidents. He made sure the gallery also featured other important Americans. For example, he added portraits of people like Eunice Kennedy Shriver and Alice Waters. When he retired in 2012, he became a Senior Scholar at the Smithsonian. This meant he continued to share his knowledge.
