Martin Edward Nolan, born on June 12, 1959, is an Irish judge. He has been a judge in the Circuit Court since May 2007. He works in the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, which is a court in Dublin.
Growing Up
Martin Nolan grew up in County Wexford, Ireland. As a young person, he enjoyed playing Gaelic football. He played for a local team called Oylegate–Glenbrien GAA. He also played for the Wexford county team for players under 18 years old.
Early Career
Before becoming a lawyer, Martin Nolan worked as a police officer. He was a member of the Garda Síochána, which is Ireland's police force. He served as a Garda from 1979 to 1989. During this time, he was based in the areas of Rathfarnham and Tallaght.
Becoming a Lawyer
After his time as a police officer, Martin Nolan decided to study law. He attended a special law school called the King's Inns. In 1989, he officially became a barrister. A barrister is a type of lawyer who represents people in court. He worked on many different types of cases. These included cases about criminal law, civil law, and family law.
Judicial Career
In May 2007, Martin Nolan was chosen to become a judge. He was appointed to the Circuit Court. This is a very important role in the Irish legal system. He has been serving as a judge ever since.
