The Famous Martin Luther King Jr. Pool
One of the most popular features at Martin Park is its amazing swimming pool. This pool is known as the Martin Luther King Jr. Pool. It was added to the park in 1973, giving the community a wonderful place to cool off and swim.
Why is This Pool So Special?
The Martin Luther King Jr. Pool is an Olympic-sized pool. This means it's 50 meters long, just like the pools used in the Olympic Games! It officially opened to the public in June 1974. This makes it the only public 50-meter pool in the entire region. It's also one of only two public pools in the city of Charleston that are open all year round. This means you can enjoy swimming there no matter the season!
