History of Martinstown

Martinstown has a history that goes back to the 1800s. The community was officially mapped out and divided into lots in 1857. This process is called "platting." It means someone created a detailed map showing all the streets and property lines.

The community was named after a man named Neal Martin. He was an important person in the area, serving as a local judge. In the same year, 1857, a post office was opened in Martinstown.
