Maryam Hassouni (born on 21 September 1985) is a Dutch writer and a former actress. She is well-known for her acting roles. In 2006, she won a special award called an International Emmy Award for her part in the TV film Offers.
About Maryam Hassouni
Maryam Hassouni was born in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on 21 September 1985. Her parents, Alia and Abdelbaki Hassouni, are from Morocco. They moved to the Netherlands a few years before Maryam was born. Maryam has a younger brother named Zakariya and a sister named Sarra.
Maryam finished high school in 2003. She first studied about museums (this is called museology) until 2005. After that, she tried studying law at the Free University in Amsterdam, but she decided it wasn't for her.
Her Acting Career
Maryam started acting in 2002. Her first big role was Dunya El-Beneni in the TV show Dunya and Desi. This show was very popular and was even nominated for an International Emmy Award for Children and Young People two times, in 2004 and 2005.
In 2006, Maryam won a big award herself! She received the International Emmy Award for Best Performance by an Actress. She won it for her role as Laila al Gatawi in a Dutch TV film from 2005 called Offers. This was a huge achievement for her.

She hopes that by speaking out, things will improve in the industry for everyone.
