The Marysville Swedesburg Lutheran Church is a very old and special church located in Marysville Township, Minnesota. It was built a long time ago, in 1891. This church is important because of its beautiful design, its connection to the first settlers in the area, and its role in the community's religious life.
In 1979, the church was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This means it is recognized as a significant historical building. It is considered one of the best examples of a brick Gothic Revival church in Wright County. It also tells the story of the Swedish immigrants who settled in this area.

The Church's History
Early Settlers and First Church
The story of the Marysville Swedesburg Lutheran Church began in 1869. That's when Swedish families started to move to this area. They were looking for new homes and a place to build a community.
On February 25, 1873, these settlers officially formed their church group. Just one year later, in 1874, they built their very first church. This first church was made from strong, cut logs.
Building the Current Church
As the community grew, they needed a bigger and more permanent church. So, in 1891, they started building the church you see today. People in the community helped by donating bricks and even the land for the church.
The new church was finished in 1893. It became the main place of worship for the community for many years.
Changes and Restoration
The community used this church building until 1950. At that time, the church members decided to join with another church. They merged with Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo. This church was once known as Carlslund Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Even after merging, the community continued to use the Marysville church. They worshipped there while a new church building was being built in Buffalo.
In 1973, the Marysville church was restored. This means it was carefully repaired and made to look new again. This restoration happened to celebrate 100 years since the church group was first formed.
Today, the community still holds special worship services at the Marysville church. These services happen on Monday evenings during June, July, and August.
