History of the Church
The story of this community began in 1869 when Swedish settlers arrived. On February 25, 1873, the local church group was officially formed. The very next year, they built their first church out of logs.
The community started building the church you see today in 1891. People donated bricks and even the land for the new building. The construction was finished in 1893.
The community used this church for worship until 1950. At that time, they decided to join with another church, Zion Lutheran Church, in Buffalo. Even after joining, they continued to use the Marysville church while a new building was being built in Buffalo.
In 1973, the community worked to restore the Marysville church. This was done to celebrate 100 years since the church group was founded. Today, the community still holds worship services there on Monday evenings during June, July, and August.
