Maryvale Station's Past

Maryvale is named after the important Maryvale Station. This station has been a working farm since at least the 1860s. In 1863, two well-known people, William Austin Horn and John Morphett, became its owners.

The buildings at Maryvale Station are very old and special. They include the main house (homestead), a school, a shed for shearing sheep, and living quarters for the shearers. These buildings are so important that they are listed on the South Australian Heritage Register. This means they are protected because of their historical value.
