María Alejandra Muñoz Seminario (born on December 18, 1979) is an Ecuadorian politician and lawyer. She served as the 51st Vice President of Ecuador from July 2020 to May 2021. She was the third woman to hold this important position in Ecuador's history. Before her, Rosalía Arteaga and Maria Alejandra Vicuña also served as Vice Presidents.
Becoming Vice President
On July 17, 2020, María Alejandra Muñoz was chosen to be the Vice President by Ecuador's National Assembly. The National Assembly is like the country's parliament, where laws are made. She received 75 votes from the members of the Assembly. She officially started her role on July 22, 2020.
