Masaki Chugo (中後 雅喜, Chūgo Masaki, born May 16, 1982) is a Japanese football expert. He used to be a professional football player and now works as a football manager. Currently, he is the assistant manager for the J1 League club Kashima Antlers.
Playing Career
Masaki Chugo played as a midfielder during his time as a professional footballer. He started his youth career with JEF United Ichihara from 1998 to 2000. After that, he played for Komazawa University from 2001 to 2004.
Professional Clubs
His professional journey began in 2005 when he joined Kashima Antlers. He played many games for them until 2008. During his time there, he helped the team win important championships.
After leaving Kashima Antlers, he played for other Japanese clubs. He joined JEF United Chiba from 2009 to 2010. Then, he moved to Cerezo Osaka in 2011. From 2012 until 2017, he played for Tokyo Verdy.
Throughout his career, Masaki Chugo played a total of 262 games. He scored 15 goals, showing his skill on the field.
Managerial Career
After his playing days, Masaki Chugo moved into coaching. He started by working with youth teams. From 2020 to 2023, he coached the youth teams at Tokyo Verdy.
In 2024, he joined Kashima Antlers as an assistant manager. On October 9, 2024, he was announced as the manager of Kashima Antlers. He then returned to his role as assistant manager for the club in 2025.
