Masaki Ogawa (小川 雅己, Ogawa Masaki, born April 3, 1975) is a former Japanese football player and manager. He was a defender, meaning he played in a position to stop the other team from scoring goals.

Masaki Ogawa's Football Journey

Masaki Ogawa was born in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, on April 3, 1975. He loved football from a young age. After finishing high school, he started his professional career.

Playing as a Defender

Ogawa joined Kashima Antlers in 1994. At first, he didn't play many games. In June 1997, he moved to Kyoto Purple Sanga. Here, he quickly became a regular player. This means he played in most of the team's games as a right side back.

In 1999, Ogawa moved to Cerezo Osaka. He played many matches that year. However, in 2000, he didn't get to play as much. So, in June 2000, he joined J2 League club Shonan Bellmare. He became a regular player there too.

In 2001, he moved to Mito HollyHock. He played many games in 2001 and became a regular player from 2002 onwards. In 2004, he joined Japan Football League club Thespa Kusatsu. He was a regular player for them. His team finished 3rd in 2004, which helped them get promoted to the J2 League.

From Player to Coach

In 2006, Ogawa moved to Regional Leagues club Zweigen Kanazawa. Here, he took on a special role: he was a "playing manager." This means he was both a player on the field and the coach of the team at the same time. He managed the club for one season.

In 2007, he moved to another Regional Leagues club, FC Osaka. Masaki Ogawa decided to retire from playing football at the end of the 2007 season.
