Masanori Tokita (鴇田 正憲, Tokita Masanori, June 24, 1925 – March 5, 2004) was a famous Japanese football player. He played as a forward and was a key member of the Japan national team. He was born on June 24, 1925, and passed away on March 5, 2004.

Masanori Tokita's Club Career

Masanori Tokita was born in Kobe, Japan. After finishing his studies at Kwansei Gakuin University, he began his professional football career. In 1950, he joined a team called Tanabe Pharmaceutical. He played for this club until he retired from club football in 1959.

Tokita also played for a special team known as Kwangaku Club. This team was made up of players who had attended or were still attending his university, Kwansei Gakuin University. With Kwangaku Club, Masanori Tokita achieved great success. He helped them win the prestigious Emperor's Cup four times! The Emperor's Cup is one of the most important football tournaments in Japan.

Playing for the National Team

Masanori Tokita was chosen to play for the Japan national team in March 1951. This was a very special moment because it was Japan's first international football game after World War II. His first game for Japan was on March 7, 1951, against Iran at the 1951 Asian Games. At these games, Japan won a bronze medal in football.

He also represented Japan at the 1954 Asian Games. In November 1956, Tokita was selected to play for Japan in the 1956 Summer Olympics. He even had the honor of being the team captain during this major event.

Masanori Tokita played a total of 12 games for the Japan national team and scored 2 goals during his career, which lasted until 1959.

Later Life and Legacy

Masanori Tokita passed away on March 5, 2004, in Hyogo Prefecture at the age of 78. His contributions to Japanese football were remembered and honored. In 2006, he was recognized for his achievements and was selected for the Japan Football Hall of Fame. This is a very high honor for football players in Japan.
