Masatoshi Wakabayashi (若林 正俊, Wakabayashi Masatoshi, 4 July 1934 – 11 November 2023) was an important Japanese politician. He was a member of the Liberal Democratic Party, one of Japan's major political groups. Wakabayashi was born on July 4, 1934, and passed away on November 11, 2023.
Political Career
Masatoshi Wakabayashi served as the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in Japan. This role is very important. The minister helps manage farming, forests, and fishing to make sure Japan has enough food and natural resources.
He was first appointed to this position by Prime Minister Shinzō Abe. Later, he was appointed again to the same role after another minister resigned.
After Prime Minister Abe stepped down, Wakabayashi continued his work under Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda.
Stepping Down from Politics
In March 2010, Masatoshi Wakabayashi resigned from the Diet, which is Japan's parliament. He stepped down after an incident involving a voting rule. This led to him leaving his position as a lawmaker.
