Mason Vincent Toye (born October 16, 1998) is an American professional soccer player. He plays as a forward for the Major League Soccer club Sporting Kansas City.

Early Life and Soccer Start

Mason Toye was born in South Orange, New Jersey. He went to different schools during his younger years. He attended The Winston School Of Short Hills for primary and middle school. Later, he went to Morristown-Beard School for his first two years of high school. Mason then finished high school at Seton Hall Preparatory School in West Orange, New Jersey in 2017.

College Soccer Career

After high school, Mason played one year of college soccer. He joined Indiana University in 2017. He was a "Generation Adidas" player, which means he was a top young talent. This allowed him to enter the 2018 MLS SuperDraft early.

At Indiana University, Mason played in 25 games and started 21 of them. He scored 10 goals and made 2 assists during the 2017 season. Mason helped the Hoosiers have a perfect season without any losses. They reached the 2017 College Cup Final but lost 1–0 to Stanford University. Mason was named the Big Ten Conference Men's Soccer Freshman of the Year. He also earned a spot on the Big 10 All-First Team.

Professional Soccer Journey

Joining Minnesota United

On January 18, 2018, Minnesota United FC chose Mason Toye in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft. He was the 7th player picked overall.

Mason played his first professional game on March 10, 2018. He came into the game as a substitute in the 72nd minute. His team, Minnesota United, won 2–1 against Orlando City.

He scored his first goal for Minnesota United FC on June 18, 2019. This happened in a U.S. Open Cup match against the Houston Dynamo. Mason scored in the 89th minute of the game.

His first goal in Major League Soccer (MLS) came on June 29, 2019. He scored in the 75th minute during a big 7–1 win against FC Cincinnati. On July 13, 2019, Mason scored the winning goal in extra time. This gave Minnesota United a 1–0 victory over FC Dallas at Allianz Field.

Loan to Colorado Springs

In August 2018, Mason Toye was loaned to USL club Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. He played for them until the end of that season. He made his first game appearance for the club on August 11, 2018. This was an away game where they lost 2–1 to the Tulsa Roughnecks. Mason scored his first goal as a professional on September 1, 2018. He scored in the 11th minute during a 3–1 loss to LA Galaxy II.

Loan to Forward Madison

In April 2019, Mason was loaned out again. This time, he joined Forward Madison FC, which was a team connected to Minnesota. He played his first game for them on April 6, 2019. It was an away game where they lost 1–0 to Chattanooga Red Wolves SC.

Moving to CF Montréal

On October 1, 2020, Mason Toye was traded to the Montreal Impact. This team later changed its name to CF Montréal. Minnesota United received money and a draft pick in exchange for Mason.

Time with Portland Timbers

On July 23, 2024, the Portland Timbers announced they had traded for Mason Toye. They gave up a draft pick to get him from CF Montréal. However, on November 1, 2024, the Portland Timbers decided not to offer Mason a new contract for 2025.

Joining Sporting Kansas City

On January 11, 2025, Sporting Kansas City announced they had signed Mason Toye. He joined the team as a free agent, meaning his previous contract had ended. Mason made his first appearance for Sporting Kansas City on April 5, 2025. He came in as a substitute in extra time during a 2–0 win against St. Louis City.
