History and Design
Building the Cathedral
The idea for this church started in the early 1800s. A person named Father Nicolás Ballí began the work. It took many years to build this beautiful place of worship.
Architectural Style
The cathedral is built in a style called Neoclassical architecture. This means it looks like old Greek and Roman buildings. It has a grand and classic appearance. The church has three main sections inside, which are called naves. Over the years, the cathedral has had a few small changes, but it still looks mostly the same.
The Front of the Church
The front part of the church, called the façade, also shows the Neoclassical style. It has three large archways that you can walk through. On each side of these arches, there are tall, round pillars. These pillars are called Tuscan columns, and there are six of them in total.
