Matariki Network of Universities facts for kids
The Matariki Network of Universities (MNU) is a special international group of universities. It was created in 2010. The universities in this group are known for their amazing research and teaching. They have long histories of helping students learn and discover new things.
The name Matariki comes from the Māori language (from New Zealand). It means the Pleiades star cluster, also called the Seven Sisters stars. This name was chosen because there were seven founding universities in the network, just like the seven stars!
The Universities in the Network
When the Matariki Network started in September 2010, it had seven founding members. These universities are from different countries around the world. They are all very old and respected places of learning.
