Mathias Fassou Pogba (born August 19, 1990) is a former professional footballer from Guinea. He played as a forward, meaning his main job was to score goals.
Mathias started his football journey in Spain at Celta Vigo as a young player. He then played for Quimper in France. Later, he moved to the United Kingdom, where he joined clubs like Wrexham and Crewe Alexandra. He also played in Italy for Pescara, in Scotland for Partick Thistle, and in the Netherlands for Sparta Rotterdam. Mathias has also represented his home country, Guinea, playing five times for their national team.

Football Career Highlights
Starting in Europe
Mathias grew up in Paris, France. He joined the youth team of the Spanish club Celta Vigo with his twin brother, Florentin. Mathias found it a bit tough there because of the language and being away from his family. In 2009, he moved back to France to play for Quimper, a team in the fourth division. He scored two goals during his time there.
Playing for Wrexham
In September 2010, Mathias joined Wrexham, a team in the Conference National league in England. He had a successful trial period before signing.
He made his first appearance for Wrexham a week later. On January 3, 2011, he scored his first goal for the club. He continued to score more goals, including two in two games against Cambridge United and Mansfield Town. His good performance led him to sign a new contract with Wrexham until 2012. In his first season, Mathias played 29 games and scored four goals.
During the 2011–12 season, Mathias scored his first goal of the season in a 4–1 win against Alfreton Town. He scored six more goals by the end of December. He was recognized for his efforts and was voted the club's young player of the year for that season.
Time at Crewe Alexandra
After leaving Wrexham, Mathias signed a two-year deal with Crewe Alexandra on July 7, 2012. He quickly made an impact, scoring two goals in his very first game for Crewe in a League Cup match. A week later, he scored in his league debut too.
He faced a knee injury that kept him out for most of September but returned to play. By the end of December, he had scored four more league goals. He also scored two goals in other cup competitions. Mathias ended a goal drought in February 2013 and added four more goals later in the season. He suffered a thigh injury that ended his season early. Despite this, he played 41 games and scored 16 goals, making him the club's top scorer for the 2012–13 season.
Before the 2013–14 season, Mathias got another injury to his right knee, which kept him out for at least three months. While recovering, he signed a contract extension until 2015. He returned to play in January 2014 and scored his first goal of the season in February. He added four more goals that season. Even with injuries, he played 22 games and scored five times.
Moving to Italy and Back to England
In July 2014, Mathias joined Serie B team Pescara in Italy. He made his debut for Pescara in September 2014. After six months and four appearances without scoring, he left the club.
In February 2015, Mathias signed with League One team Crawley Town in England. He scored his first goal for Crawley Town in April 2015. He scored once more in the last game of the season, after which he left the club.
Playing in Scotland and the Netherlands
On August 3, 2015, Mathias signed a one-year contract with Scottish Premiership side Partick Thistle. He made his debut five days later. He scored his first goal for Partick Thistle in October 2015 and his second in March 2016. He scored another goal in the Scottish League Cup in the 2016–17 season before leaving the club in August 2016.
On August 31, 2016, Mathias signed a one-year contract with Eredivisie side Sparta Rotterdam in the Netherlands. He made his debut in November 2016 and scored his first goal for Sparta in March 2017.
Later Career Clubs
In September 2018, Mathias joined French third-tier side Tours. In July 2019, he moved to Spain to play for Manchego. In January 2020, he moved to Lorca, also in Spain, before being released six months later. In August 2020, he signed for Racing Murcia. In February 2021, he joined Slovenian PrvaLiga team Tabor Sežana. His last known club was Belfort in France, which he joined in August 2021.
International Career
Mathias Pogba made his first appearance for the Guinea national team on February 5, 2013. This was in a friendly match against Senegal in Paris. He came on as a substitute and played alongside his twin brother, Florentin Pogba, for the last 30 minutes of the game, which ended in a 1–1 draw.
Personal Life
Mathias Pogba has two brothers who are also professional footballers. His twin brother, Florentin Pogba, plays for ATK Mohun Bagan in India. His younger brother, Paul Pogba, plays for the France national football team and has played for clubs like Juventus.
The Pogba brothers grew up in Paris. Mathias and Paul lived together when they were playing for Wrexham and Manchester United, respectively. Mathias was at the Stade de France watching his brother Paul play a friendly match when the Paris attacks happened on November 13, 2015.
