Club Football Journey
Starting Out in Football
Mathias grew up in Paris, France. He joined the youth team of Celta Vigo in Spain with his twin brother Florentin. Mathias found it a bit hard there because of the language and being away from his family. In 2009, he moved back to France and joined Quimper, a team in the fourth division. He scored two goals during his one season there.
Playing for Wrexham
In September 2010, Mathias joined Wrexham, a team in the Conference National league in England. He had a successful trial period before signing.
Mathias played his first game for Wrexham a week later. He came on as a substitute in a match against Fleetwood Town. On January 3, 2011, he scored his first goal for Wrexham in a 2–0 win against Bath City. He scored three more goals that season, including one against Wimbledon. Because of his good performance, he signed a new contract to stay with the club until 2012. In his first season, Mathias played 29 games and scored four goals.
In the 2011–12 season, Mathias started well, scoring his first goal against Alfreton Town. He scored six more goals by the end of December, including two against Gateshead. He faced some injuries but kept scoring when he returned to play. He scored three more goals later in the season. Mathias was even voted the club's young player of the year for that season!
Time at Crewe Alexandra
After leaving Wrexham, Mathias joined Crewe Alexandra on July 7, 2012. He signed a two-year deal. He quickly showed his skill by scoring two goals in his very first game for Crewe, which was a League Cup match. A week later, he scored in his first league game too.
Mathias scored four more league goals by the end of December. He also scored two goals in other cup competitions. He was the club's top scorer in the 2012–13 season, scoring 16 goals in 41 games. However, he got a thigh injury that kept him out for the rest of that season.
For the 2013–14 season, Mathias faced another injury to his right knee. This meant he was out of action for at least three months. While he was recovering, he signed a contract extension to stay with Crewe until 2015. He returned to play in January 2014 and scored his first goal of the season in February. He scored five goals in 22 games that season, even with his injury.
Before the 2014–15 season, Mathias decided he wanted to leave Crewe to try new challenges.
Moving to Other Clubs
Mathias joined Serie B team Pescara in Italy in July 2014. He played four games for them but did not score any goals. After six months, he left the club.
In February 2015, Mathias signed with Crawley Town in England. He scored his first goal for them in April 2015. He scored one more goal in the last game of the season.
On August 3, 2015, Mathias moved to Scotland to play for Partick Thistle. He scored his first goal for them in October 2015 and another one in March 2016. He left the club in August 2016.

He also played for Racing Murcia in Spain. In 2021, he joined Tabor Sežana in Slovenia and then Belfort in France for the 2021–22 season.
