Matinecock is a small village in New York. It is located on Long Island, within Nassau County. The village is also part of the Town of Oyster Bay. In 2020, about 847 people lived there.

Village History
Matinecock became an official village on April 2, 1928. This step allowed the community to have more control over its own local rules and decisions. This is known as home rule.
The village gets its name from the Matinecock Nation. This Native American group used to live in a large part of this area. The name "Matinecock" means "the Hill Country." This was the name the Matinecock Nation used for much of the land.
In 1998, a magazine called Worth said Matinecock was the fifth wealthiest town in America. It was also named the richest town in New York at that time.

Matinecock is a small place, covering about 2.7 square miles (6.9 square kilometers). The entire area of the village is land. There are no large bodies of water within its borders.
