Matt has wrestled a lot in Canada. He has also competed in the United Kingdom and the United States. He was the first person from his family to complete the tough "Canadian Death Tour" in wrestling. Early Life and Family Connections

Matthew Herweg was born in 1993. His mother, Liane Reiger-Herweg, had German and Native American roots. His father, Smith Hart, came from a family with Ulster Scot and Irish heritage. Matt also has Greek and more Irish ancestry through his grandmother, Helen Hart.

Matt has an older half-brother, Michael, who is also a wrestler. He has three other half-siblings from his father's side: Tobi, Tania, and Chad. He also has a foster brother named Steven. Matt's middle name, Dean, honors his uncle Dean Hart, who passed away in 1990. He shares his first name with his cousin Matthew Annis, who also passed away.

Matt's parents separated before he was born. However, they shared custody of him. He and his father lived in the attic of the famous Hart House in Calgary. In 2001, Matt and his father attended a WWE event to remember his uncle Owen Hart, who had died two years earlier.

On Matt's thirteenth birthday in 2006, his mother passed away. After this, Matt was placed in foster care. This happened because authorities felt his father's wrestling career was too unpredictable. Later, Matt was cared for by Stacey Olaszak, his father's long-time partner. Matt also studied to become a stonemason.

As a member of the Hart family, Matt has many relatives in wrestling. His cousins Natalie Neidhart, Harry Smith, Teddy Hart, Torrin Hart, and Bruce Hart Jr. are all wrestlers. His cousin Lindsay Hart works as an on-screen personality for Elite Canadian Championship Wrestling.

Professional Wrestling Journey
