Matt Hazel (born January 23, 1992) is a former American football wide receiver. He played college football at Coastal Carolina University. He was chosen by the Miami Dolphins in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL draft.

Matt Hazel's Football Journey
Growing Up and High School Football
Matt Hazel grew up in North Augusta, South Carolina. He went to North Augusta High School. During his senior year, he was an amazing player. He caught 75 passes for 1,193 yards and scored 18 touchdowns. He helped his team reach the second round of the playoffs.
College Football Days
Matt played college football at Coastal Carolina University from 2010 to 2013. He was part of the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers football team.
In 2010, as a freshman, he played in 11 games and caught 20 passes. He scored five touchdowns. The next year, in 2011, he caught 32 passes and scored six touchdowns.
In 2012, he played in all 13 games. He had 61 catches for 799 yards and eight touchdowns. He was named a first-team All-Big South player. In 2013, he had his best year with 70 catches for 990 yards and nine touchdowns. He earned first-team All-Big South honors again.
Matt set several records at Coastal Carolina. He holds the record for most career catches (183) and most catches in a single season (70 in 2013). He is also second in school history for career receiving yards (2,553) and career receiving touchdowns (28).
Playing Professional Football
Matt Hazel was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in 2014. He was the 190th player picked overall. He joined their practice squad and later played on their main team.
After his time with the Dolphins, Matt played for several other NFL teams. He was part of the Buffalo Bills' practice squad in 2016. Later that year, he joined the Washington Redskins' practice squad. He signed a contract with the Redskins for 2017.
In 2017, Matt also played for the Indianapolis Colts. He moved between their main team and practice squad. Later that year, he joined the Cleveland Browns. He stayed with the Browns until April 2018.
He returned to the Indianapolis Colts briefly in August 2018.
Playing in Other Leagues
In 2019, Matt signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Canadian Football League.
In 2021, Matt went to Italy to play for the Lazio Ducks in the Italian Football League. He had a great season with 67 catches for 977 yards and 10 touchdowns. He played for the Lazio Ducks again in 2022.
