About Matthew Rosseinsky
Professor Rosseinsky has received many awards for his work. In 2011, he was given the Hughes Medal. This was for his discoveries in making solid-state electronic materials. He also found new microporous structures.
Early Awards and Recognition
He received the Harrison Memorial Prize in 1991. In 2000, he was awarded the Corday-Morgan Medal and Prize. He also gave the Tilden Lectureship in 2006. All these awards came from the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC).
In 2009, he won the first De Gennes Prize from the RSC. This is a major award for a scientist's entire career in materials chemistry. It is open to scientists from all over the world. In 2013, he became a Royal Society Research Professor.
Major Achievements and Lectures
In 2017, Professor Rosseinsky received the Davy Medal from the Royal Society. This award recognized his progress in designing and finding useful materials. He combined new experiments with computer methods to do this.
He also gave special lectures at top universities. These included the Muetterties Lectures at UC Berkeley and the Lee Lectures at the University of Chicago in 2017. In 2019, he gave the Flack Memorial Lectures in Switzerland. He also received the Frankland Lectureship from Imperial College London.
In 2020, he was made an Honorary Fellow of the Chemical Research Society of India. This is a special title. In 2022, he gave the Davison Lectures at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also received the Basolo Award from the American Chemical Society.
Important Roles and Latest Awards
From 2014 to 2016, he was part of the Science Minister’s Advanced Materials Leadership Council. This group advised the government on new materials. He also served on the governing Council of the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council from 2015 to 2019. This council helps fund science and engineering research.
In 2023, he received the Eni Energy Frontiers Award. The President of Italy presented him with this award. It was for his work in using digital tools to design and discover new materials for energy. These are called "next-generation energy materials."
