Maurizio Gaudino, born on December 12, 1966, is a German football coach and a former professional player. He was a talented midfielder who played for many famous clubs. He is currently the director of football for SSV Reutlingen 05.

Gaudino played in Germany's top league, the Bundesliga, for teams like VfB Stuttgart and Eintracht Frankfurt. He also played in England's Premier League for Manchester City. His career also took him to Mexico, Turkey, and Switzerland. He started and finished his playing days with SV Waldhof Mannheim. Maurizio Gaudino played five times for the German national team, scoring one goal.

Maurizio Gaudino played for the German national team in 1993 and 1994. He was even part of their squad for the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the United States.

Bundesliga Success and European Adventures

Gaudino played 294 games in the Bundesliga, Germany's top football league. He played for clubs such as Waldhof Mannheim, VfB Stuttgart, Eintracht Frankfurt, and VfL Bochum.

In 1995, Maurizio Gaudino joined Manchester City in England on a temporary deal, called a loan. He showed great performances for the team. One memorable game was a 3–2 win against Blackburn Rovers, who were the league champions that year.

He scored three goals in 20 league games for Manchester City. Even with his good play, City finished 17th in the Premier League. This was just three spots away from being moved down to a lower league.

Playing in Switzerland and Turkey

After his time in England, Gaudino moved to Switzerland to play for FC Basel for the 1997–98 season. He played his first league game for Basel on July 9, 1997. He scored his first goal for the club on July 19.

On April 4, 1998, Gaudino scored three goals in one game, which is called a hat-trick. This helped Basel win 3–1 against Étoile Carouge. He played 42 games for Basel in total, scoring 16 goals.

After Basel, Gaudino played for VfL Bochum for one season. Then, in 1999, he moved to Turkey to play for Antalyaspor. He stayed there until the team was moved to a lower league in the 2001–02 season.

Coaching and Management Career

After his playing career, Maurizio Gaudino started working in coaching and management. In 2004, he took temporary charge of his former club, SV Waldhof Mannheim.

Maurizio Gaudino's parents moved to Germany from Italy. His father was born in Orta di Atella, and his mother is from Frattamaggiore. Maurizio's son, Gianluca, is also a professional football player. Gianluca currently plays for the Swiss club Lausanne Sport.

In 2006, Maurizio Gaudino took part in a special charity football match. It was a game between England and Germany, celebrating the 1966 FIFA World Cup Final. In this game, which included celebrities and former players, Gaudino was tackled by Boris Johnson, who later became the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
