Maurizio Lobina's Music Journey
Starting His Musical Career
Maurizio Lobina was born in Asti, Italy. Before joining Eiffel 65, he was part of a band called Vitanova. However, he left that group because the other members did not like dance music, which Maurizio loved.
In 1991, Maurizio met Roberto Molinaro, who was an aspiring DJ and producer. Maurizio was also an aspiring musician and producer. Roberto saw Maurizio play the piano and invited him to a new music studio in Torino. Maurizio talked to his bandmates, but they preferred rock or pop music over dance music. Still, Maurizio decided to follow his passion for dance music.
Creating the Hit Song "Blue (Da Ba Dee)"
In 1994, Maurizio briefly left his music work to complete his military service. He returned soon after to continue his musical career. In 1998, after a regular day at the Bliss Corporation studio, Maurizio composed a tune. He was a bit bored and just started playing. He then asked his colleague, Jeffrey Jey, to come up with some unique lyrics to finish the song. Within just a few days, the song "Blue (Da Ba Dee)" was created, arranged, recorded, and released in Italian stores. It quickly became a global sensation.
Family Life and Other Projects
Maurizio has a son, and he dedicated the song "Viaggia insieme a me" to him. He also has a younger brother named Luca, who took many of the photos for the group's album covers.
After Eiffel 65 broke up in 2005, Maurizio and Jeffrey Jey formed a new band called Bloom 06. In 2010, both Maurizio and Jeffrey rejoined Eiffel 65. They are still touring and performing as of 2025, bringing their music to fans around the world.
