Maverick Ahanmisi spent one year at Stoneridge Prep. This school is in Simi Valley, California. He then graduated from Golden Valley High School in Santa Clarita, California in 2009.
High School Achievements
When he was a senior, Maverick scored an average of 20.2 points per game. He became the all-time leading scorer for his high school team. He also made the most three-point shots in his school's history. Maverick played for the Branch West Basketball Academy. This was an AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) basketball team. In 2010, he decided to play college basketball for the University of Minnesota.

In 2015, Maverick was one of 16 Filipino-foreign players who applied for the 2015 PBA draft. The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters picked him as the 3rd overall player. He signed a two-year contract with the team.
In his first big game as a pro, he scored 14 points. He scored 11 of those points in the last quarter. This helped the Elasto Painters start the season with two wins and no losses.
