Max Riemelt (born January 7, 1984) is a German actor. He is well-known around the world for playing Wolfgang Bogdanow in the Netflix series Sense8. In Germany, he is famous for appearing in many TV shows and movies. Some of his notable works include Before the Fall, Free Fall, and the 2023 series Bonn. He has worked many times with directors Dennis Gansel and Dominik Graf.

Early Life

Max Riemelt was born on January 7, 1984. He was born in Mitte, East Berlin. At that time, it was part of East Germany. He grew up in Berlin, Germany.

Acting Career

Max Riemelt started his acting career in Germany in 1997. He was 13 years old. His first TV appearances were in Eine Familie zum Küssen and Praxis Bülowbogen. The next year, he got his first main role. This was in the ZDF Christmas series Zwei allein.

He worked with director Dennis Gansel on several films. These included Mädchen, Mädchen (2004) and The Fourth State (2012). In 2004, he became very well-known in Germany. This was for his role in Gansel's World War II movie Before the Fall.

Max Riemelt also worked often with director Dominik Graf. In 2010, he starred in Graf's TV crime series In the Face of Crime.

In 2013, he starred in the romance movie Free Fall. In this film, he played Kay, a police officer in training. The movie tells a story about love.

From 2015 to 2018, he was a main actor in The Wachowskis' Netflix series Sense8. He played Wolfgang Bogdanow, a German safe cracker. The first season of the show received good reviews from critics.

In 2017, he starred in the psychological thriller Berlin Syndrome. He acted alongside Australian actress Teresa Palmer. The movie was shown for the first time at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. Critics generally liked the film. Both Palmer and Riemelt were praised for their acting.

In 2020, he joined the cast of The Matrix Resurrections. This is a well-known science fiction movie series.
