Maya Forbes (born July 23, 1968) is an American writer, producer, and director. She is known for her work in movies and TV shows.
Maya Forbes made her first movie as a director called Infinitely Polar Bear in 2014. She also helped write the movie The Rocker (2008). On TV, she wrote many episodes for The Larry Sanders Show. She was also a co-executive producer for that show. Later, she was an executive producer for the TV show The Naked Truth.
For her work on The Larry Sanders Show, Maya Forbes was nominated for an Emmy Award and a WGA Award. These are big awards in the TV industry.

Life and Career of Maya Forbes
Maya Forbes was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Her mother, Peggy Woodford, is African American. Her father, Donald Cameron Forbes, had French and Scottish family roots.
Family and Education
Maya Forbes is married to Wally Wolodarsky. He worked with her on The Rocker and Infinitely Polar Bear. Maya's sister is China Forbes, who is the lead singer of the band Pink Martini.
Both Maya and her sister went to Phillips Exeter Academy. Maya then studied at Harvard University. While at Harvard, she wrote for the Harvard Lampoon, which is a famous humor magazine.
Inspiration for Infinitely Polar Bear
Maya Forbes used her own childhood experiences to create the movie Infinitely Polar Bear. The story is about a family in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In the movie, the father, who had bipolar disorder, took care of the children. This happened while their mother was studying for her business degree in New York City.
After her mother finished school, she started working on Wall Street. She later became the first African American woman to start an investment management company in the United States.
Maya Forbes's own daughter, Imogene Wolodarsky, acted in Infinitely Polar Bear. She played a character based on Maya herself as a child.
