About Maya Hayuk
Maya studied art at several places. She got her degree from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 1991. She also studied at the University of Odesa in Odesa, Ukraine, and at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture.
She gets her ideas from many different things. These include traditional Ukrainian decorated eggs called pysanka, beautiful circular designs called mandalas, and even views from the Hubble Space Telescope. She also finds inspiration in chandeliers, holograms, and the world around her.
Famous Art Projects
Maya's art has been shown all over the world. She has had solo exhibitions and special art projects at places like:

In 2005, Maya started a big art project called This Wall Could Be Your Life. She painted the outside walls of a building called Monster Island. This project lasted for seven years! To mark the end of the project and the building's demolition, she organized an event called the Paint Pour Off on September 11, 2011. During this event, paint was poured from the rooftop down the walls.
From August 2013 to January 2014, Maya's art was featured at UCLA's Hammer Museum. She painted large murals in the museum's lobby. The project opened with a special event that included other artists and music.
In 2014, Maya created a new artwork for the Bowery Mural in New York City. This wall is famous for its ever-changing murals by different artists. Maya was only the third woman to paint on this important wall.
