Mayport is a small town located in Jacksonville, Florida. It sits right between a big naval base called Naval Station Mayport and the St. Johns River. Mayport is part of the beach communities in Jacksonville, found on San Pablo Island. The only way to get to Mayport by public road is State Road A1A. This road uses the St. Johns River Ferry to cross over to Fort George Island. Mayport officially became a city on June 3, 1909, thanks to a decision by the state government.
