Maysville, sometimes called Mayville, is a small community in eastern Madison County, Alabama, United States. It's an "unincorporated community," which means it's a group of homes and businesses that are part of the larger county, not a separate city or town with its own government. Maysville is located next to Ryland on its west side and is close to the town of Gurley to the east.

A Look at Maysville's Past
Maysville was likely named after the May family, who were some of the first people to settle in this area. Long ago, the land around Maysville was mostly fields where farmers grew crops like cotton and corn.
However, things started to change a lot with the growth of high-tech industries nearby. This change was especially due to the presence of NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center and the Missile Defense Agency. These important centers brought new jobs and people to the area. Because of this, Maysville transformed from farmland into a place with many new neighborhoods, like Cooper Estates and Maysville Estates.
Maysville even had its own post office for many years, from 1850 until 1955.
