Ryland is a small place in eastern Madison County, Alabama. It is known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that are part of a larger county, but they don't have their own separate local government like a city or town would. Ryland is located right next to another community called Maysville.
A Bit of History
Ryland got its name from a person named Virgil Homer Ryland. He was the very first postmaster in the area. A post office was officially opened in Ryland in the year 1895. This post office helped connect the people of Ryland with the rest of the world by sending and receiving mail.
