Mazatenango is a city and a municipality in Guatemala. It is the capital city of the Suchitepéquez department. About 77,431 people lived there in 2018.
The city is located about 165 kilometers (103 miles) from Guatemala City. Mazatenango sits on a coastal plain near the Pacific Ocean. This means it is much lower than Guatemala City. Because of its low elevation, the weather is hotter and more humid.
