The Mbara people, sometimes called Kumbulmara or Mitjamba, are an Aboriginal Australian group from the state of Queensland. They are an important part of Australia's rich history. The Mbara people spoke a language called Mbara. It belongs to a larger group of languages known as Pama–Nyungan.

The Mbara people are one of the many Aboriginal Australian groups. They have lived in Australia for thousands of years. Their culture is very old and full of traditions. These traditions include stories, songs, and special ways of life.

Where Did the Mbara People Live?

The Mbara people lived in a specific area of what is now Queensland. A mapmaker and researcher named Norman Tindale studied their traditional lands. He estimated their country covered about 13,200 square kilometers (13,000 square kilometres (5,100 sq mi)).

The Mbara Country's Location

Their land was located near the Woolgar River and the Stawell River. To the north, their country reached the Gregory Range and a place called Gledswood. The western edge of their land was near Saxby Downs. In the east, their territory extended to Chudleigh Park. The southern part of their country reached as far as Cambridge Downs. This area was their home for many generations.
