History of McDonald
Early Settlement and Naming
The area where McDonald is located was settled after the American Revolutionary War. The town got its name from P. K. McDonald. He was an important person in the community.
In 1893, P. K. McDonald opened the town's first general store. He also started a turpentine distillery. These businesses helped the community grow.
Town Incorporation
The town of McDonald officially became an incorporated town in 1911. This means it gained its own local government.
