The McGill Drug Store Museum is a really cool place in McGill, Nevada. It used to be a real drug store, which is like a pharmacy where you get medicines and other things. This store was open for a long time, from 1915 until 1979. When a big copper mine nearby closed, the drug store closed too. But here's the amazing part: everything inside was left just as it was!
Today, the store has been reopened as a museum. It has over 30,000 items inside, including old medicines and even records of prescriptions from way back in 1915. It's like a time capsule that helps people learn about how stores and pharmacies used to work.

A Look Back at the Drug Store's History
This museum was originally a drug store owned by the McGill Drug Company. They might have bought the building from another company called Steptoe Drug Company. Even though it was mainly a place for medicines, it was also famous for its soda fountain. A soda fountain is where you could get ice cream sodas and milkshakes. Guess what? That soda fountain is still there today!
How the Drug Store Became a Museum
The drug store became a museum in 1995. This happened when White Pine County bought the building. A woman named Elsa Culbert and her husband, Gerald, had owned and run the drug store since the 1940s. They also kept the soda fountain going.
The drug store stopped operating in 1979 after Gerald passed away. Many of the items inside were simply left exactly where they were. This is why it feels so much like stepping back in time when you visit!
What You Can See in the Collection
The museum is truly like a time capsule. It's filled with items from the 1940s, 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. You can see old pharmaceutical products, which are like medicines and health items. There's also medical equipment from those times.
The building itself also shows its age. You can see steel structures that were common during the mining boom era. Inside, there's a soda counter that looks just like ones from the 1930s. It's a great way to see how things have changed over the years.
