McMillan is a small place in Wisconsin, United States. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government.
McMillan is located within the larger area called the town of McMillan. Both are found in Marathon County. Long ago, McMillan used to be an official village.
History of McMillan
The community of McMillan has an interesting past. A special office for sending and receiving mail, called a post office, was opened here in 1881. This post office helped people send letters and packages for many years.
However, the post office eventually closed down in 1919. The community itself was given its name to honor a person named B. F. McMillan. He was an important businessperson who worked in the lumber industry.
