Understanding the Watershed
What is a Watershed?
A watershed is like a giant bowl. All the rain and snow that falls inside this "bowl" eventually drains into one main river or stream. For Meadow Run, its watershed covers an area of about 41.20 square miles (106.7 km2).
Meadow Run's Environment
The Meadow Run watershed gets a good amount of rain every year. It receives about 50.7 inches of precipitation. A large part of this area, about 82%, is covered by forests. These forests are very important. They help keep the water clean and healthy for all the plants and animals that live there.
