Mecca, Ohio facts for kids
Mecca (also called East Mecca) is a small place in Trumbull County, in the U.S. state of Ohio. It's known as an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and businesses that doesn't have its own local government like a city or town.
History of Mecca
The community of Mecca got its name from the famous city of Mecca, located in Saudi Arabia. A post office was opened in Mecca, Ohio, way back in 1825. This post office served the community for many years, finally closing its doors in 1904. By 1882, Mecca was a small settlement, with about a dozen houses making up the community.
